Why would my boyfriend do this?

My boyfriend and I were intensely kissing, and then as he likes i started having dry sex with him. He was really into like usual when he told me to STOP, i was confused when he said this in the midst because i always tell him when to quit. And he said there was nothing wrong, it was just he hadn't seen me in awhile and didn't want to do anything like that, is there something wrong?
